There are four typefaces on this month’s list — two condensed, modern styles and two scripts. The best part is all four are free for personal use. So get to clicking, and get to reading.
Hope you like the heat! Using the record high temperatures here in the southern USA, this month’s wallpaper is a tribute to the sun as it scorches through the month of August.
I realized yesterday I have been drawing on the same collection of gradients as a go to resource and decided to build a new basic set of colors. The colors I chose are very vibrant and saturated — thus I am calling them jewel tones. I also worked the brightness and saturation across the set so all sixteen are nice and consistent.
I’ve spent the last month or so looking at various backup and synchronization options trying to find the perfect solution. I found countless apps, Automator scripts, even terminal commands — but everything kept coming up short. Finally my backup prayers were answered. The app is called Synkron and it has completely streamlined my backup and sync jobs. The versatility and range of configurations is absolutely amazing. I can’t think of a backup situation this application couldn’t handle. Read on for a full review.
This month I’ve got three FREE fonts to showcase that will make great headlines and display usage. One Art Deco, one futuristic sketch, and one italic calligraphic script make for awesome inspiration and great additions to your typographic toolbox. Check it out — you know you want to…
I shaved my beard off the other day before spending a week in the woods camping. It’s just too hot to be dealing with all that. So with it went most of my hippie street cred. So I started thinking of other symbols of the hipster look — moustache, cassette tapes, glasses, and skinny tie — and a desktop wallpaper was born.
Seems like things have been pretty hush around these parts lately, but I would like you to know that work has continued on in the background. I finally got so dejected and repulsed with the design of the blog that I started working on a new one. Then, I slowly spiraled down the WordPress theme development hole along with responsive design and overall aesthetics.
But now, for your viewing pleasure, the new SpareType!
It’s a massive, high-resolution brush set for Photoshop (or the GIMP if you’re into that kind of thing.) From subtle to high contrast, these twenty — count them 20! — wood grain brushes can add great texture or background to a design. Oh, and they are totally free, so that’s cool too.
